Sumner County High School Essay Contest

To paraphrase Thompson Mayes in Why Old Places Matter, old places and shared history create a sense of continuity that helps people feel more balanced and part of a continuum in a world that’s constantly changing. They give you a chance to experience the slow, healing time of the past while making connections to the future. With this in mind, we offer a high school essay contest to plant seeds of preservation in our youngest generation. 

Sumner Preservation Collaborative

Launched in early 2023, this group includes representatives of Sumner County historic sites and related organizations.  We meet quarterly to learn and grow together.
